Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 20, 2026 · Last Updated: February 22, 2026
Awaken Sacred Wisdom ("Awaken," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Journal entries: Text you write in the in-app journal. Journal entries are stored locally on your device and automatically synced to our cloud servers (see Section 3 for details on how syncing works).
- Bookmarks and progress: Which quotes you save and your current day in the 365-day journey.
Information collected automatically:
- Persistent anonymous identifier: When you first open the app, a Firebase anonymous user ID (UID) is automatically created. This UID is persistent across sessions and is used to associate your data — including journal entries, analytics events, and purchase history — with your account. While this identifier does not contain your name or email, it is not truly anonymous because it links your activity over time.
- Device identifiers: We collect Firebase Installation IDs and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device tokens, which are stored alongside your UID. These are used to deliver push notifications and to identify your device for technical purposes.
- Usage analytics: We track detailed in-app activity linked to your UID, including screens visited, features used, session duration, onboarding behavior, paywall interactions, streak data, and other engagement events. This data is not anonymous — it is associated with your persistent UID.
- Purchase and subscription data: If you make a purchase, we track transaction details including plan type, price, and purchase events. This data is linked to your UID via RevenueCat (see Section 4).
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, app version, and language settings. We use this to fix bugs, improve compatibility, and deliver feature configurations via Firebase Remote Config.
- A/B testing data: We use Firebase Remote Config to deliver different feature configurations and run experiments (such as onboarding variants and prompt variations). Config fetch requests transmit device and platform information to Firebase.
- Crash reports: If the app crashes, we collect crash logs linked to your device to identify and fix issues.
Information we do NOT collect:
- Your name, email address, or phone number (unless you voluntarily provide it for account creation or support)
- Your location data
- Your contacts, photos, or other personal files
- Any health or biometric data
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the app experience
- To sync your progress and journal entries across devices (this happens automatically — see Section 3)
- To understand which features are most valued so we can improve them
- To diagnose and fix technical issues
- To send you daily quote reminders (only if you enable notifications)
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using industry-standard security practices:
- Local data: Journal entries, bookmarks, and progress are stored on your device using encrypted local storage.
- Automatic cloud sync: The app uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create an account for you automatically when you first open the app. This means your journal entries, bookmarks, and progress are synced to Google Firebase servers by default — you do not need to explicitly create an account or opt in. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Firebase complies with SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, and ISO 27001 standards.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each of which may collect and process data as described:
- Firebase Authentication: Automatic anonymous account creation and user identity management. Creates and maintains a persistent UID for each user. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Firebase Cloud Firestore: Cloud storage for journal entries, bookmarks, progress, and device tokens (FCM tokens linked to your UID).
- Firebase Analytics: In-app event tracking linked to your UID, covering engagement metrics, feature usage, paywall interactions, purchase events, streak data, and onboarding behavior.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Delivery of push notifications (e.g., daily quote reminders). Requires collection and storage of a device-level FCM token.
- Firebase Remote Config: Delivery of feature flags and A/B test configurations (e.g., onboarding variants, prompt variations). Transmits device and platform information with each config request.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Crash reporting and diagnostics linked to your device.
- RevenueCat: Subscription and in-app purchase management. RevenueCat receives your Firebase UID and tracks your purchase history, including plan type, pricing, and transaction events. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Payment processing for subscriptions. We do not have access to your payment details — these are handled entirely by Apple or Google.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- Notifications: You can enable or disable daily reminders at any time in the app settings or your device settings.
- Analytics: Analytics data is collected by default to help us improve the app. We are working on adding an in-app opt-out setting. In the meantime, you can contact us to request that analytics collection be disabled for your account.
- Data deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app settings. You can also email us and we will delete your data within 30 days.
- Data export: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.
6. Children's Privacy
Awaken is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
7. International Users
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, you have additional rights including the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data, and the right to object to processing. Our legal basis for processing is your consent (which you may withdraw at any time) and our legitimate interest in providing and improving the app.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of Awaken after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
